How do I get more people to visit my website?

Usually the question asked is: "how do I get my site optimized to rank at the top of keyword searches on search engines?" or even "how do I market my website?" But the ultimate goal is to get more people to visit one's website.

I don't want to take up time in this article answering questions (or debunking myths) about search engine marketing.  Instead I want to ask a simple questions: "do your clients live on the internet?"
